Looking Ahead

The Chamber is planning a program of work on your behalf for 2009. Our priority is to ensure the Urban Centre Strategy (UCS) process is started as soon as possible. Among the other activities for the new year will be taking part in the Fingal County Council Liaison Group (FCCLG) for Malahide, creating a Business to Business section on the Website to promote trade, running a Members seminar in February, supporting the Tidy Town Committee and looking at ways we can together promote business into Malahide. The UCS and FCCLG will be two avenues where we can try to improve the traffic and car parking issues that continue to be a major concern for Members. Anyone who would like to make a contribution is welcome to attend our meetings which take place on the second Wednesday of each month at 1pm in the Grand Hotel.

Fingal County Council Liaison Group

The Chamber had its first introductory meeting with Fingal CC on 17th December. The Liaison Committee will be Chaired by Peter Byrne of the FCC Planing department. The community will be represented by 2 members of the Chamber, 2 members of the Forum, a Tidy Town representative, the Gardaí and our local Councillors. The meetings will take place three times a year (with two extra if required) in Malahide Library. The first meeting will be before the end of January 2009 but the following meeting will not take place until after the Local Elections. The Liaison Committee will see the plans Fingal CC has for work in Malahide as well as budget details. We will use this forum to communicate our issues to Fingal CC and there will be follow up between meetings.
